First week of October is almost completed. Autumn has officially arrived to London. There were few things I've done in the last seven days -- I listened to a great programme about small talk, found Google's conference really interesting and absolutely loved the PRCA Digital Group hosted by FleishmanHillard Fishburn.

Influencers are incredibly important part of successful campaigning. Brands are really keen on working with them. I really liked the work of Canon in the US. The company celebrated 25 years old of Canon EOS Rebel, their DSLR range. They invited Anna Akana, one of my favourite YouTubers, to work with them. Anna, after her family tragedy, has decided to raise awareness about bullying. She's organised classes that would help kids overcome difficulties in school and in life, by performing stand-up comedy. Brilliant work!

Being able to handle small talk is really handy. It's useful in networking and everyday situations. Michael Rosen and Dr Laura Wright of Radio 4's Word of Mouth, interviewed psychotherapist and writer Philippa Perry. They shared their views on this type of discourse and looked at the psychological side of small talk. Well worth listening to, as it contains many helpful pieces of advice and funny anecdotes.

Google had their conference this week. And it was exciting! Tech giant unveiled the VR headset, which has similar specifications to the predecessor, but has new design -- and looks superb. I was really intrigued by the new smartphones that had been presented -- Pixel and Pixel XL, made by HTC. They have really powerful, 12-megapixel camera, cloud storage for pictures (with UNLIMITED space!), big 5-inch, 1080p screen and few more compelling features.

#FindYourWild was the campaign executed by Bell Pottinger and BD Network. On behalf of their mutual client, South African Tourism, the agencies were raising awareness about the country based in the southernmost tip of the African continent. They've used the space in the London's South Bank and promoted South Africa with with the DJ set, food and even VR experience.

On Tuesday, I attended the B2B Group event organised by the PRCA. The event was hosted at the Nelson Bostock. I was listening to the insights on why don’t more people want to work in B2B PR. Panelists included David Woodward, SVP Strategy at Weber Shandwick, Holly Smart, Global PR Lead for Premier Farnell, Jon Bennett, MD of Linstock Communications and Mariette Ferreira, who is a Head of Marketing at Fair FX. We've heard views of the speakers on how to attract new talent. They were wondering whether the education (or its lack) on B2B in the PR courses might be an issue here. Coming to this breakfast session was definitely worth it!

On Thursday, after gathering at one of my favourite places out there, at the Bankside-headquatered FleishmanHillard Fishburn, we heard from the fabulous panel of experts in digital space. We were first presented with the results of the survey conducted by the PRCA and YouGov. For example, we found out that Twitter is the most commonly used platform by the agencies. Another insightful fact was that Instagram and Snapchat are the most emerging platforms (with the 14% growth in use). Then, our panel took over. It consisted of Leah Katz, MD of Operations at FleishmanHillard Fishburn, Candace Kuss, Director of Social Media at H+K Strategies, Arun Sudhaman, President and Editor-in-Chief of The Holmes Report and the Founder and MD of Augur Communications, Max Tatton-Brown. The panel was chaired by Chris Lee -- founder of Silvester & Finch. Panelists discussed influencers, video and measurement in PR.
